The Area Sales Director holds a crucial position within the organization as they lead a highly skilled team of Specialty Account Managers in the Northeastern US region. The ASD is responsible for overseeing all sales activities within the defined geography, with a strong emphasis on achieving excellence. One of the primary duties of the ASD is talent acquisition and retention. They build and develop a high-performing team. The ASD ensures that the team meets and surpasses sales targets through strategic recruitment efforts and effective talent management practices. The ASD is also responsible for training and developing the sales team. They identify team members' strengths and areas for improvement. The ASD designs and delivers targeted training programs to enhance their skills and knowledge, ensuring the team remains up-to-date with industry trends and best practices. Another critical responsibility of the ASD is effective budget management. They optimize resources and conduct sales operations within approved budgets. This includes planning, forecasting, monitoring expenses, and allocating funds efficiently to achieve sales targets. Building and nurturing key customer relationships is a top priority. The ASD engages with key clients and stakeholders to understand their needs, address concerns, and cultivate strong partnerships. By fostering these relationships, the ASD promotes customer loyalty and satisfaction, ultimately driving revenue growth. The ASD plays a pivotal role in closely collaborating with various teams across the organization. They work closely with marketing, product management, and operations teams to align strategies and tactics, while ensuring maximum sales results. This cross-functional collaboration allows for seamless coordination and integration of efforts, creating a cohesive and effective approach toward achieving sales targets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, train, and retain high-performing talent within the region
  • Provide exceptional leadership and guidance to the team
  • Drive area sales performance to achieve or exceed annual company sales objectives
  • Analyze market dynamics within the region and develop strategic business plans to optimize team success
  • Cultivate and manage relationships with customers and manufacturers
  • Foster effective working relationships across all departments and collaborate with personnel company-wide
  • Evaluate the performance of account managers and provide constructive feedback as needed
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, as well as all regulatory requirements
  • Fulfill other compliance-related duties and responsibilities as assigned

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree or higher
  2. Minimum 1+ years of recruiting experience
  3. Minimum 2+ years of sales management experience
  4. Chronic care sales experience is a must
  5. 5+ years of experience in Medical Sales, Diagnostic Sales, Specialty Pharmacy Sales, or Clinical Pharmacy
  6. Possession of a valid regular driver's license (DL)
  7. Resides in one of the following cities or states: New York, New Jersey, Boston, Baltimore, or DC
  8. Experience managing a team of 12+ individuals
  9. Ability to travel 75% of the time
